Responding to Sue Hibberd's letter (11 December, Insurance Times), I would like to reassure her that, of course, there is no intention of taking her ACII away as a result of the CII's new general insurance qualifications framework.

The CII has embarked on a major communications exercise to let members and students know about the new framework.

To date we have sent out over 42,000 mailings, unfortunately just over 100 people - including Sue Hibberd - were sent an incorrect letter. I am sorry if this has caused any confusion.

We are writing to all individuals concerned to reassure them, if they have any queries they can also contact our Customer Service centre on 020 8989 8464.

I am pleased to say that feedback on the new framework from students, members and employers is extremely positive.

In particular, the new modular structure has been welcomed as it allows individuals to achieve the requisite levels of technical knowledge and understanding relevant to them.

The ACII - whenever achieved - remains a premier industry qualification demonstrating an individual's professional capability.
