Admiral Group, the direct motor insurer, has reported pre tax profits of £27.4m for 2001 - an increase of 154%.

The company largely attributed the rise in its customer base, of about 18%, to the launch of its online service www.elephant.co.uk.

Chief executive Henry Englehardt commented on the results: "One of our key success factors is our efficiency. There are many other insurers who have much deeper pockets than we do and keeping a close eye on costs is the only way for us to maintain a competitive advantage in the motor insurance industry."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
