Arthur Savage will be integrated into Alan and Thomas’ newly opened Dorchester branch

Alan and Thomas has bought Dorchester-based broker Arthur Savage Insurance as it plots further expansion into the South.

Arthur Savage will now be integrated into Alan and Thomas’ recently opened office in Dorchester, taking the total number of offices to four including Poole, Gillingham and Frome.

Arthur Savage managing director Barry Shereston will also relocate to the new Dorchester branch with his team, along with exisiting Alan and Thomas staff.

Alan and Thomas chief executive Julian Boughton said that along with the existing offices, the business is now “better placed to offer businesses, entities and high net worth individuals in the South a complete insurance and risk management service”.

“Our vision for the future is to increase our reach in the South and the opening of our new Dorchester office is the next step in our plan,” he said.

Shereston said he agreed to sell the business to Alan and Thomas because of the broker’s chartered status and investment in its workforce.

“There was a good deal of interest in Arthur Savage Insurance once the industry became aware that we were looking for a buyer - but from early on, it was clear that Alan and Thomas were the front runners,” he said.
