The company has been awarded chartered status for its general insurance operations

Alan Boswell Group reported gross written premiums (GWP) of more than £50m for the first time to date.

This came as the independent commercial insurance broker also announced that all five of its general insurance operations had been awarded the chartered insurance brokers title.

The operations section has 180 staff working across the eastern region in Norwich, Ely, Attleborough, Bury St Edmunds and Peterborough.

Managing director Chris Gibbs, said: “Both of these achievements are real landmark moments for our group and represent the power of professionalism and excellent customer service.

“This recognition from the Chartered Insurance Institute coupled with our increase in GWP shows that our commitment to ethical good practice and first-rate customer service from our highly qualified staff is a formula that’s working.”

In the year to March 2013 the group’s turnover increased by nearly 8%, of which 1% came from its acquisitions of two brokers in the second half of the year, while 7% came from organic growth.

Last December the company purchased Bentley Charles Insurance Services and the Peterborough office of Sutcliffe Insurance Brokers, for around £700,000.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
