Allianz aims to raise profile in broker community

Allianz creates new broker director roles

Allianz Insurance has appointed Nick Hobbs and Sarah Mallaby as directors of broker markets, commercial and personal.

They will share the responsibility for Allianz’s branch network, strategic account management and personal broking teams.

Simon McGinn, general manager, commercial and personal, said: “Appointing two directors of broker markets demonstrates our intention to be even more visible and proactive in the broker community as we look for opportunities to build long term profitable relationships.”

Mallaby (pictured above) will be responsible for the North, North West, Midlands & South West and South East regions from 1 January.

She will move from her existing role as head of technical claims where she led Allianz’s claims technical excellence programme.

Hobbs (pictured right) moves immediately from his current Allianz role as head of strategic distribution management, commercial and personal. He will be responsible for Allianz’s London, Central and East region, as well as personal lines broker and strategic distribution management.

McGinn added: “I am very pleased that we’ve been able to make these two key appointments from within the company because it enables us to make a seamless change for the benefit of our broker partners.”

Both appointments are subject to regulatory approval.  

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
