Insurer want US boost and will help oldest golf club grow
Allianz will sponsor St Andrews, home of next year’s golf Open Championship, for the next three years to raise its profile in the US, the FT reports.
Steven Althaus, senior vice-president of global brand management and strategic partnerships at Allianz said: “I am sure it will help us to get our name out, if we activate it properly, in the US where we don’t have a strong brand.”
In the US other group brands such as Pimco and Fireman’s Fund are better known.
St Andrews hopes Allianz will help it get better known in developing golf markets such as China and India.
