The fight against uninsured driving steps up a gear

Allianz has praised the Government's soon to be introduced Continuous Insurance Enforcement (CIE) measures - which will make it an offence to be a registered owner of an uninsured vehicle - as a "significant step".

Allianz Commercial's head of commercial motor and motor trade, Roger Ball, said: "This is a significant step in the fight against uninsured driving in the UK.

"CIE will be a huge benefit to the millions of motorists who pay for the cost of uninsured drivers and it is vital that commercial insurers play a role in advising their partners ahead of the change.

"Allianz has been providing guidance to ensure that brokers are fully prepared and will remain committed to supporting the scheme."

He added: “Although uninsured drivers do not feature heavily in the commercial sector, it is vital that the MID is maintained on an accurate and timely basis to avoid the reputational damage caused if an 'insurance advisory letter' is received by our customers in error."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
