Hennessy and Mason join from Lead Aviation

Lloyd’s insurer Antares has appointed Simon Hennessy and Russell Mason as aviation underwriters, with immediate effect.

Both will write direct general aviation business, joining a team led by Antares’ aviation manager Stephen Jedburgh.

Hennessy and Mason join Antares from Lead Aviation, a specialist managing general agency, where they wrote and managed a general aviation account and provided consultancy services to New Zealand insurer CBL Insurance.

Both have more than 30 years’ experience in the market and have held senior underwriting roles at Mitsui Sumitomo, Catlin and Wellington, where they worked together.

Antares active underwriter Joe Battle said: “Adding a direct general aviation offering to our aviation account is part of a concerted effort to expand the range of products we offer to the market in a number of our business lines. Simon and Russell are known for their expertise in this field and bring added strength and depth to our six-strong aviation team.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
