I am writing to correct the article that appeared in last week's Insurance Times, headed "Willis Poaches Whole Aon Team". The 12 people who have tendered their resignations from Aon in fact constitute a minority of our 50-strong financial institutions (FI) team, and not "all 12 members", as your article wrongly states.

Aon Financial Institutions is still the leading UK broker for FI business. What is more, the fact that we have more than 450 professionals in Aon Professional Risks means that we have the strength in depth to recruit from within. That is why we already have new service teams in place under my personal leadership to provide our clients with the market-leading levels of service they expect from us.

I must also correct the statement that Roland Avery was head of the FI team. In fact, Roland Avery was its chief operating officer, and was not ultimately responsible for either its management or strategy. Roland Avery, along with the other people who tendered their resignations, is now on gardening leave.

I am delighted to say that all of our clients are aware of our new arrangements, and we will continue to grow, consolidating our position as the UK's number one financial institutions broker and providing our clients with the best insurance and risk management solutions in the business.
