Peter Dobbs previously ceo of Aon Professional Risks

Aon has appointed Peter Dobbs as UK chairman of marine. Leading a team of 110 employees across the UK, he will be responsible for driving client service, strategic planning and developing new business from the global Aon network.

Dobbs was previously chief executive officer of Aon Professional Risks with expertise in kidnap & ransom, counter terrorism, politicalrisks and product recall/malicious contamination insurance.

He joined Aon in 1989 after three years as lead underwriter with AIG. Before his career in insurance, he worked at two international crisis management consultancies.

Philip Stamp, chairman of Aon Network Solutions, said: "Peter's appointment is a reflection of the great work he has been doing at Aon. In particular, he has championed the industry's move towards electronic trading to best meet the diverse needs of clients, which is an essential part of Marine's strategy. He is the natural choice for this role considering his impressive 18 year track record leading a number of business units to strong performance."

Commenting on his new role, Dobbs added: "To help our UK and global clients protect and grow their business, I'm committed to continuously building our knowledge of the risks faced in global trading while implementing operational efficiency within the team. My priority is to work with clients and colleagues to create a UK marine business plan that will effectively service clients and grow revenues."

Dobbs takes over from Nigel Roberts who will continue his seconded role at Lloyd's while supporting strategic Aon initiatives.
