Broking giant Aon is creating a new internet-based underwriting syndicate at Lloyd's.

Insurance Times understands the new operation, called Credit Indemnity and Financial Services (CIFS), will begin underwriting from September 1.

The syndicate is headed by Bob Lilley who was recruited by Aon specifically for CIFS.

Prior to joining Aon, Lilley enjoyed spells with Trade Indemnity, Jardines, Hilton Malcolm Underwriting, and Lloyd's syndicate HIH.

But Lilley was not able to divulge details of the new company at the time of going to press.

Aon, is currently neck-and-neck with Marsh as the world's biggest broker. It has been developing the new syndicate for the past six months.
