A new parental guide to address the problem of arson among young children has been published by the Arson Prevention Bureau (APB).
The APB claims arson caused over 1,000 injuries last year.
Arson Prevention Bureau chief executive Jane Milne said: "Childhood fascination with fire is nothing new, but the alarming number of fires started by children and juveniles shows that they do not understand the destructive and life threatening power of fire.
"A child's curiosity with fire does not mean that they will become a future arsonist, but it could lead to serious problems if left unchecked."
