Arista underwriting poaches two senior underwriters from Zurich

The appointments of Gregor Elrick as head of property and Carl Steventon as head of liability means that the company has a senior underwriter in each of its specialist classes. Alan Horemans is head of motor at Arista.

Elrick and Steventon were both UK general insurance underwriting heads at Zurich.

Arista said that having recently opened offices in Southampton and Bristol, additional recruits would augment growth in new regional offices in the Midlands and the North.

Charles Earle, chief executive of Arista, said: “Brokers are still not getting what they need. Insurance talks about being customer driven, but really it isn’t. It is about servicing brokers. Service to brokers is about making brokers more money.”

“These appointments demonstrate the scale of Arista’s ambitions and the strong technical resources we are committing to achieve them.”

The company aims to capture £200m of business within five years, including £30m in its first year.
