Members of the Aviation Insurance Offices Association (AIOA) have elected to bring its operations under the control of the International Underwriting Association (IUA).

The AIOA said it hopes the development will allow it to become more representative of the market.

Outgoing AIOA chairman and underwriting executive at Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers, Peter Butler said: "In this capacity we will be able to enjoy all the benefits of membership of this larger grouping while continuing to operate on a day-to-day basis, much as we do at the present time.

"We will still have an aviation chairman as well as senior representation able to speak for the aviation company market and we will fully contribute to and participate in activities involving LAUA and the Joint Technical Clauses Committee (JTCC). Certainly, we will continue to represent the market with the same vigour as we have always done."
