AXA Corporate Solutions and Marsh will undertake mediation in a bid to settle the controversial Centre Parcs fire claim, it is understood.

Earlier this year it was alleged that AXA Corporate Solutions had threatened to void the policy on the basis of non-disclosure by Marsh.

Centre Parcs' owners were also said to be considering legal action against the broker and the insurer.

The claim stemmed from a fire that ripped through the Suffolk holiday complex in April.

They are now said to be attempting to reach an amicable solution that could keep the case out of court. Mediation is likely to begin in the new year.

An insurance law expert said mediation was ideal for such situations. "Big broker, big risk and big insurer; it's in their interests to continue to work together," he said.

A Marsh source confirmed negotiations were on-going.

AXA Corporate Solutions would not comment.
