AXA Commercial Lines and Personal Intermediary has appointed Karen Young as senior underwriter for its Reading branch.

Young joins the Reading branch’s specialist schemes team and will work as a dedicated point of contact for its brokers on some of the insurer’s largest schemes.

Young joins from QBE where she was a commercial underwriter for the last six years. Prior to that, she held commercial underwriting roles at Willis, AXA, Chubb and RSA.

AXA Commercial Lines and Personal Intermediary branch manager for Reading Ed Pugh said: “Karen has a wealth of technical underwriting experience. We’re very excited to be able to hire such an experienced and capable underwriter, particularly as she has worked for AXA before. It’s clear to see that while some insurers are pulling back from the regions AXA is investing in its regional offices – making underwriting expertise available to brokers on their doorstep.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
