Beazley has appointed Bob Deutsch as a non-executive director of its Lloyd’s managing agency Beazley Furlonge.

Deutsch is currently a partner at GCP Capital Partners LLC, where he focuses on insurance-related investments.

He was previously chief executive of Bermuda-based specialty insurer, Ironshore. Prior to that he served for five years as chief financial officer of CNA Financial Corporation.

Beazley chief executive Andrew Horton said: “Bob’s experience and insights will be of enormous value to Beazley as we continue to develop our business globally.

“He is very familiar with many of our lines of business and with the challenges of building a profitable business in competitive markets.”

Deutsch’s appointment came as the insurer announced that Chris London is stepping down from the Beazley Furlonge board after three and a half years.

“I would like to thank Chris for his contributions to Beazley as a non-executive director of our managing agency, particularly in the area of broker relations,” added Horton.
