Homer to take over from Patrick Smith

Former Towergate Insurance chief executive Andy Homer will be chairman of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (Biba) from January 2012.

“It’s important to make a contribution to the industry and I’m pleased to have this opportunity to give something back to broking,” Homer said.

Homer was previously chairman of the Motor Insurance Bureau, chief executive of AXA Insurance UK and president of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Homer will take over from current chairman Patrick Smith.

Smith said: “As my time in the role comes to an end, I am delighted that Andy has agreed to take up the mantle. I’m sure he will prove to be a strong leader for the organisation and will successfully guide Biba and its members through the challenges that face insurance brokers and intermediaries in the general insurance sector.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
