Biba will launch its own legal expenses scheme, most likely at its conference in May 2003.

The scheme will be backed by legal expenses provider DAS.

Brokers will be able to sign a three-year contract for company and individual cover, covering the period of changeover to statutory regulation.

They will also be able to buy an accompanying human resources survey, with a leading firm of consultants visiting the broker to study and report on its human resources procedures.

Robin Wood Associates (RWA) will train the consultants to address upcoming regulatory and compliance issues.

RWA chairman Robin Wood said the scheme had taken at least eight months to put together.

DAS sales and marketing manager Ray Kneeshaw said the company was delighted to work with Biba.

"We've had a long relationship and are pleased to support them on this," he said.
