Framework would help create 'a recognised profession'

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has published a list of signatories to the Aldermanbury Declaration, showing 26 insurers and a large group of brokers have signed up.

All the big-name UK insurers have signed up, including AXA, RSA, Aviva and Allianz. Brokers including Towergate, Bluefin, Kwik-Fit and Barnett & Barnett are included, as well as loss adjusters such as GAB Robins, Crawford and Company, and Cunningham Lindsey.

All the companies have promised to stick by a framework of high standards in the workplace.

CII?past president and chairman of the taskforce Barry Smith said: “I’m incredibly encouraged by the take-up; in particular, not the insurers but the number of brokers that have signed up. And obviously, this is over a pretty short period of six months.”

Current CII president Chris Hanks said: “CII research shows that 80% of human resources practitioners in the general insurance sector believe that the demand for professional qualifications will increase over the next five years.

“The declaration is also an opportunity to create a recognised profession that puts insurance on the map for school, college and university leavers. It places aspiration at the heart of how we think and act.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
