Henderson appoints Brain as new group broking director

Henderson Insurance Brokers has appointed Gordon Brain as group broking director, based at the company’s Leeds head office.

Brain has joined Henderson from Bluefin’s Harrogate office where he spent a total of 26 years, including 24 years with Smart and Cook before the company was acquired by Axa in 2007.

Henderson has also confirmed the acquisition of Leeds-based Denney O’Hara (Life and Pensions) and Denney O’Hara, after Insurance Times revealed the move last month.

Brain said: “I’ve known (chief executive) Joe Henderson for a long time and he had always said his door was open to me if I was interested in talking about a move.

“Then when I did get in touch there was an opportunity arising here, so the timing worked out really nicely.”

Joe Henderson added: “Gordon is well-respected and well-regarded in the industry, but our opposition is typically contracting while we’re looking to invest.

“Gordon is a quality player who brings another dimension at executive level that complements what we already have.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
