UK Export Finance is now accepting business from credit insurance brokers, its chief executive announced yesterday.

At the relaunch of the Export Credits Guarantee Department as UK Export Finance, chief executive Patrick Crawford also identified brokers as a source of help for SMEs in the agency’s new strategy.

The initiatives are part of a strategy to help UK SMEs export to new markets and secure finance, which was launched by Prime Minister David Cameron.

Welcoming the new measures, Biba chief executive Eric Galbraith said: “Anything which helps raise the profile and eases understanding of export finance and the value of using specialist insurance brokers by the SME sector has our support.

“I’m also pleased that our specialist members received recognition following all of the work that we have been doing with them on this important issue.”
