Ex-CNA man Andrew Coutts replaces Tony Sigwart

Brit Insurance, the UK-based international general insurance and reinsurance group, today announces the appointment of Andrew Coutts as Cargo Underwriter. He will report to Anthony Forsyth, Marine Underwriting Director. He takes up his new post immediately.

Andrew joins Brit Insurance after nearly 20 years with CNA, where he held a variety of positions with the cargo team in London, Bahrain and Canada, including Marine Manager Europe, responsible for all CNA’s European cargo business. He began his career at J M Poland (Syndicate 108) at Lloyd’s.

Andrew has held a number of positions within industry trade bodies, including Deputy Chairman of the LMA’s Joint Cargo Committee and the IUA representative on the IUMI cargo committee.

He will be replacing Tony Sigwart, who will be retiring in May after 40 years in the market.

Mike Sibthorpe, Global Markets CEO, said: “Andrew’s broad knowledge of cargo business and underwriting experience make him the ideal replacement for Tony. His various roles on industry committees also demonstrate how well regarded he is by his peers and we are pleased to welcome him to Brit Insurance. We would like to thank Tony for his significant contribution to the Marine Division over the last 27 years and wish him well for the future.”
