The Worldwide Broker Network (WBN) has established an alliance with the US-based Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers.
The WBN is the largest organisation of its kind in the world with member firms represented on each continent.
The two-year operating agreement with the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers has been set up to give WBN access to a professional management body.
Alec Finch, of Manchester-based Alec Finch & Co, is a founding member of the WBN.
He said the council would help to manage the "increasingly complex" functions of the WBN.
"It is a mutually beneficial partnership," he said. "We will be able to use the council's management professionals and they will be able to extend to new members beyond Marsh and Aon."
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
