Cathedral chief executive Peter Scales and chief financial officer John Lynch will leave the Lloyd’s insurer on 31 March next year.

The pair had run the company for 15 years.

The moves are part of Cathedral’s continuing integration with parent insurance group Lancashire, which bought Cathedral in November 2013.

Lancashire chief executive Alex Maloney said Scales and Lynch’s professionalism “has been an important continuing factor in the success of Cathedral”.

He added: “Their expertise and dedication has helped establish Cathedral as one of the most successful and well-known businesses at Lloyd’s with a respected franchise and an excellent portfolio of clients.

“They have both worked over the last two years towards the better integration of our group of companies.

“We will continue to work together until their departures, and I would like to thank them both for the immense contribution which they have made to Cathedral over many years and to wish them well for the future.”

Chairman of Cathedral’s managing agency Cathedral Underwriting Tony South said: “I have known and worked with Peter and John for more than fifteen years, during which time they have both played an essential part in the success of the Cathedral business.

“Personally, I shall miss them, as will the rest of the Cathedral board, and we wish them every success in the future.”
