Chartis managing director to join Ascot as non-executive director

Chartis UK managing director James Shea will join ascot Underwriting as a non-executive director to help the insurer with its Solvency 2 requirements.

Shea will mantain a dual role, keeping his positiion as managing director of Chartis UK and also being a non-executive director of Ascot.

Ascot has also appointed two new executive directors, Yvonne Keyes and Mark Smith to help with regulation.

Keyes is Ascot’s compliance director and company secretary, having joined the company in 2002.

Smith joined Ascot in 2003 as head of finance and is now risk director.

Ascot Underwriting chief executive Andrew Brooks said: "I am delighted to welcome Yvonne, Mark and James to Ascot's board. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their roles, and in light of the changing regulatory landscape and Solvency II requirements, their diverse skill sets make them the ideal choice for our board."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
