Newly-established management company Chartside Ventures has acquired Kent-based broker Frames Insurance Services in what it hopes will be the first in a long line of acquisitions.

A spokesman for Chartside said the company expected to have "at least six brokers by this time next year", but it hopes to have acquired as many as 12.

Nigel Dyer, a director of the new enterprise, said: "We seek to develop Frames to be a benchmark of good broking house practice and use the benefit of that experience with future purchases."

Chartside is a recently-established company and is currently on a shopping expedition to buy broker firms.

Chartside's broker purchase strategy is to ascribe value to businesses over and above normal market valuations.

Managing director Robin Mellish is joining Chartside from Link where he was agency manager. "It's my endorsement of the intermediary channel being alive and reasonably well," he said.

"The name Chartside is going to be very well known."
