Chris Stooke, chair at broker Miles Smith, joins board

Chaucer has named Catlin’s former chief finance officer and Miles Smith chairman Chris Stooke as a non-executive director.

He joins the audit, remuneration and nomination committees and, following FSA approval, is also appointed as a non-executive director of Chaucer Syndicates, the Group's Lloyd's managing agency and main operating subsidiary.

Stooke previously had a 24-year career with Price Waterhouse and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was appointed a partner in 1990. He specialised in financial services, holding leadership positions in London and Zurich.

Financial expertise

Bob Stuchbery, chief executive, said: "I am very pleased to welcome Chris to the Board. He has a wealth of Lloyd's sector and senior level finance expertise, which will be of major benefit to us."

Stooke said: "I am delighted to have joined Chaucer and I look forward to working with the Board and Senior Management."
