Chris Stooke, chair at broker Miles Smith, joins board

Chaucer has named Catlin’s former chief finance officer and Miles Smith chairman Chris Stooke as a non-executive director.

He joins the audit, remuneration and nomination committees and, following FSA approval, is also appointed as a non-executive director of Chaucer Syndicates, the Group's Lloyd's managing agency and main operating subsidiary.

Stooke previously had a 24-year career with Price Waterhouse and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was appointed a partner in 1990. He specialised in financial services, holding leadership positions in London and Zurich.

Financial expertise

Bob Stuchbery, chief executive, said: "I am very pleased to welcome Chris to the Board. He has a wealth of Lloyd's sector and senior level finance expertise, which will be of major benefit to us."

Stooke said: "I am delighted to have joined Chaucer and I look forward to working with the Board and Senior Management."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
