Churchill Insurance's Homeworking Scheme has won the award for "Most Innovative Working Practices" at the Financial Innovation Awards 2001.

Churchill Insurance operations director Peter Horton said: "The Homeworking Scheme was set up in answer to a business need ... It also has the added bonus of offering greater flexibility to our people in their working life."

Churchill's 46 homeworkers deal with customers' car insurance claims and general enquiries. The scheme went live in March 2001, after a four-month trial with a small test team.

Churchill said results from the test phase confirmed that people working from home were 15% more productive.

It added that it was planning to expand the scheme into other areas of the business.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
