Lloyd's broker adds four to division

Wholesale Lloyd’s broker Cobra London Markets (CLM) has strengthened its motor fleet broking team with the appointment of four experienced fleet brokers.

Three of the new motor fleet brokers joined CLM’s existing motor fleet division from Lloyd’s broker Houlder Insurance Services on 29th December 2008, with the fourth joining later in the year.

“We are pleased to be able to strengthen our motor team at a time when other brokers are facing difficult market conditions. In our business plan for 2008, we set out to become one of the leading wholesale motor brokers in Lloyd’s and I believe we are well on course to achieve this during 2009. Our motor team has really excelled this year and increased our fleet business by over 50% compared with 2007,” said John Lincoln, managing director at Cobra London Markets.

The addition of the Houlders’ motor broking team follows a recent restructuring of Cobra London Markets, which saw John Lincoln move to managing director from executive director and Richard Williams move to operations director. A new streamlined business structure was put in place to ensure CLM was able to continue growth despite the current market conditions.

Lincoln added: “We undertook an extensive review of the business during the summer and agreed a new structure for our internal teams to enable us to provide sharper focus on our key business areas, liability, property, professional risks and motor fleet. This important development for Cobra London Markets also helped us streamline our other business areas such as financial risks and reinsurance, whilst maintaining our valuable customers from North America, Canada and Australia.”
