A security expert will be revealing the growing need for kidnap insurance for top business people at a conference in London next week.
More senior company executives were kidnapped in Europe last year than ever before, former Scotland Yard Chief Superintendent Chris Flint will tell the Survive conference on Thursday 29 May.
Flint, who works for Special Contingency Risks (SCR), part of insurance broker Willis, believes criminal gangs in Europe are now viewing kidnappings for ransom as an "easy touch" compared with laundering drug money.
Flint said: "Currently the boss of a major multi-national, earning in excess of £1m a year, is highly unlikely to be thinking he or she may be a target for kidnappers. But he or she is."
