Cox Insurance climbed 15p to 80p after it confirmed it was in talks that could possibly lead to an offer for the company.
According to recent press reports, Cox has held takeover talks with a consortium led by Neil Utley, the former chief executive of its core retail division who was ousted just five months ago.
