Ian Crane, underwriter of aviation Syndicate 53 is to leave his post at the end of the year.

Crowe Syndicate Management (CSM) said the decision had been arrived at by mutual agreement following a strategic review which will see it focus on the core general aviation, airline and products accounts within Syndicate 53.

John Bowman and Mark Adams will take over at the helm, subject to approval, while Patrick Denis will become the active underwriter, overseeing both Syndicates 1121 and 53.

Crane was only the fourth underwriter in the history of Syndicate 53, and Crowe said it would support him in any future career he pursues.

CSM has been reviewing its entire operation since it was bought by Stockton Re in March.
