Ecclesiastical reappoints DAS to provide legal expense policies

Specialist insurer Ecclesiastical has reappointed legal expense insurer DAS to provide services for its commercial and personal legal expenses policies in the UK and Ireland. The deal also encompasses Methodist Insurance and Ansvar Insurance.

Ecclesiastical’s niche customers – in particular charities, care homes, schools and heritage properties – will be covered for legal costs arising from disputes over employment contracts and wrongful dismissal. The DAS service also includes 24-hour helplines offering legal advice and counselling.

Chris Lees, chief underwriting manager at Ecclesiastical, said: “Legal protection is an increasing concern for our customers, so we want to make sure we are providing them with the very best cover. DAS are the leading provider of legal expenses cover, and we’re looking forward to building a closer relationship with them over the coming years.”

Paul Asplin, chief executive at DAS, said: "DAS is absolutely delighted to continue our very successful partnership with Ecclesiastical in both the UK and Ireland. We were given a tough remit, but were able to respond positively to Ecclesiastical and help them and their niche customers face the future challenges of the ever changing legal environment".

Ecclesiastical has been working with DAS for about 20 years.
