Direct Line plans full telematics roll-out using pilot results

Direct Line has launched a pilot telematics project for retail motor through telematics firm Tracker.

Thousands of motorists will take part in the year-long trial, which will focus on young drivers. Direct Line aims to launch a consumer telematics offering by using the information from the pilot.

Direct Line director of motor underwriting and pricing Andy Goldby said: “It is essential to get this right and not base it on a knee jerk reaction to a changing market place.”

Direct Line and Tracker are both owned by RBSI.

Tracker managing director Stephen Doran said: “We will be working closely together to ensure we use the capabilities of our successful telematics solutions to help Direct Line provide its customers with the right level of protection, at the right price.”
