New team to underwrite specialty liability business

Managing general agency Dual has taken three Brit staff to form a new division to underwrite specialty liability business.

The division will be led by former Brit director of liability John Murphy. Former Brit Global Specialty class underwriter Glenn Marshall and Brit Insurance class underwriter Andrew Pooley join Murphy.

Murphy will report into Dual UK executive chairman Russell Kilpatrick once he finishes his notice period. The team will be based in Dual’s Leadenhall Street offices in London.

The division will underwrite mainly across employers’, public and product liability in the UK and worldwide, with limited exposure to North American risks.

Kilpatrick said: “We are delighted that this consistently high performing team has chosen Dual.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
