Electronic insurance policy can be issued from April 21, law to be passed tomorrow

Insurers will be able to issue electronic certificates from April 20, as the legislation is expected to be passed tomorrow.

The ABI said it has been told by the Department for Transport the law will be laid tomorrow, meaning it will come into force 21 days later.

An ABI spokesman said: “This is good news for customers and insurers. The ABI has been instrumental in pushing for electronic certificates which will benefit customers and insurers alike.”
