Ecclesiastical has appointed Jamie McNab to the newly created position of group casualty underwriter.

McNab will report to group underwriting director Ray Cox. His main responsibility will be to oversee the group’s portfolio management and underwriting framework for all liability businesses in all the countries it operates in, including Canada, Ireland, Australia and the UK.

In 2012 Ecclesiastical wrote £107.9m of casualty premiums from a £481.3m total.

McNab has more than 40 years’ experience of the casualty market and was most recently UK liability portfolio manager at Brit Insurance and UK casualty manager at Zurich UK Commercial.

Cox said: “We are pleased to welcome Jamie to the group as we continue to strengthen all aspects of our liability underwriting and develop a consistent approach to our liability business across all our territories. Jamie’s expertise in this field will be a great addition to our team and will no doubt help further strengthen our liability approach.”
