Mutual insurer reduces PMI premiums by up to 12.5%

Healthcare and protection insurer Exeter Family Friendly is cutting premiums on its "Health Cover for Me" private medical insurance (PMI) plan by up to 12.5% with immediate effect.

The Exeter based mutual insurer wants to be a serious player in the PMI market, following the introduction of switch and moratorium underwriting options earlier this year.

Head of intermediary sales, Mike O'Brien, said: "We know that intermediaries like "Health Cover for Me" because it is simple, straightforward and won't leave their customers in trouble when they need it most. But what they have also been telling us is that, in the current financial climate, people are being forced to tighten their belts and increasingly looking for more affordable PMI."

"As a business, we are committed to intermediaries and listening to their feedback is a key aspect of what we do. As a result, we're delighted to "put our money where our mouth is" and give advisers yet another reason to look at us and what we can do for their business."

The premium reductions will vary by age, it added.
