Martin Wheatley

Incoming FCA chief executive Martin Wheatley will speak at this year’s Biba conference.

Other headline speakers include David Miliband MP, Olympic cycling star Chris Hoy and Dragons’ Den host Hilary Devey.

The 2013 conference, called ‘Meeting the growth challenge,’ will take place on 15 and 16 May at London’s ExCeL centre and will be hosted by political journalist Nick Robinson.

A seminar session on leadership will be hosted by Charles Trywhitt Shirts managing director Nick Wheeler, while another will cover opportunities for brokers from telematics. Other seminar topics include SME business, professional indemnity, business models, culture and regulation.

Biba chief executive Eric Galbraith said: “‘Meeting the growth challenge’ is about Biba members enabling individuals and businesses to live and work in what is an increasingly risky world and, throughout 2013, Biba will continue to take the initiative in promoting the value of our sector to UK plc and working towards more proportionate, appropriate and cost effective regulation. With a fantastic speaker programme, a full exhibition and free entry for brokers, Biba 2013 promises to be unmissable.”

Conference organiser Lindsay Campbell said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring members a programme of exceptional quality, with speakers ranging from the inspirational Chris Hoy to Martin Wheatley, the man responsible for shaping the UK’s regulatory landscape.”

All Biba members can attend the conference and exhibition for free, and non-Biba members have to pay to attend the conference.
