The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is planning to get “fit” via the internet. The institute is launching its Foundation Insurance Test (FIT) via a new e-learning website.

The new programme Fitness Trainer is the CII's first computer-based training solution for the general insurance industry. FIT has been designed to complement the General Insurance Standards Council's (GISC) competence and training requirements.

The assessment programme can be downloaded from the CII's training technology site (cii.co.uk) and licences are available for corporate buyers.

CII director general Sandy Scott said: “FIT will be the first test to be completely available online. The launch is another milestone in the process that will see an online exam introduced in the future. The market wants technology-based learning and assessment products and the CII is committed to satisfying these needs.”

FIT study material is modular, with learning goals, case study examples and a glossary. It includes a database of 180 questions, which can be randomised as as a pre-exam revision tool.

Editorial director at CII Training Technology, Henry Phillips said: “This is a tried and tested combination that allows candidates to highlight their strengths or weaknesses using the assessment programme, then switch to structured learning to focus their study.”

The training products are designed to link the CII's professional exams across a range of financial services subjects.
