Interim chief executive James Migliorini to remain as a director

Nigel Fitzgerald, Advent

Nigel Fitzgerald has taken over as chief executive of Lloyd’s insurer Advent, replacing James Migliorini.

Migliorini will remain as a director of Advent.

Migliorini was installed as interim chief executive on 1 January 2012 by Advent’s parent, Fairfax, to replace departing chief executive Keith Thompson. Thompson is one of Advent’s founding directors.

The company hired Fitzgerald as chief operating officer on 1 November 2012 with a view to him becoming the permanent chief executive.

Advent said in a statement that Fitzgerald’s appointment as chief executive “completes the planned transition to the CEO role since Fitzgerald’s arrival at Advent on 1 November 2012.”

Fitzgerald said: “We are very excited about the future for Advent. We moved quickly to invest in a long-term plan that positions Advent in the market as a highly focused specialist insurer in our chosen classes of business.

“We have a 40-year history at Lloyd’s through Syndicate 780, a recognised brand, and our team of professionals is committed to building a strong, entrepreneurial underwriting company.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
