Backchat was keen to learn of the latest efforts to equip insurers with data to model flooding and manage
flood risk.
But if names are anything to go by, the government-sponsored programme – the Atlantis Initiative – could end up dead in the water.
The project is designed to foster collaboration between agencies like the Environment Agency and the Ordnance Survey on sharing data in a common format.
The data can then be used for digital terrain modelling and flood risk management.
