New approach implemented ahead of fast-track MoJ system launch

Fortis has implemented a new system that will enable it connect to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) portal for processing low value road traffic accident claims directlly via its internal IT systems.

The ‘application to application’ approach has been implemented ahead of tomorrow’s launch of the new fast-track system for handling low cost Road Traffic Accident (RTA) personal injury claims.

By modifying its IT systems, the company will be able to offer a secure interface that enables two-way electronic transaction with the industry portal, rather than via the internet.

The interface will streamline correspondence between Fortis and the claimant lawyer, enabling claimant details to be automatically transferred between Fortis’ internal motor claims management system and the portal. Claim records will be automatically up-dated, increasing efficiency and analysis of key data.

Rob Smale, claims and operations director at Fortis said: “The interface we have developed will enable our teams to better manage this major change in the handling of low cost RTA injury claims. We have used the time given to prepare for the reform appropriately to review our processes and we are confident we are ready.

“We recognise, once live, the reforms will produce challenges for everyone and we hope we will see a new spirit of co-operation between insurers and lawyers, to make this work.”
