Oval
Sharon Riette has been appointed to Oval's credit division in Birmingham.

Riette previously worked as a senior member of the trade credit broking team at Aon.

Bennetts
Bennetts has appointed Kal Samra as director. Samra previously worked as senior marketing manager and more recently as associate director at Bennetts.

PBS Holding
PBS Holdings, the holding company for Primary Broker Services, has announced the appointment of Adrian Harling as chief financial officer.

He will be based in the Primary Group London office until PBS Holdings opens its central London location later this year.

FirstCity
Paul Betts has returned to FirstCity as a partner in the financial institutions practice area. Betts was previously senior vice president in the global banking practice of Swiss Re Financial Services .

Eamonn Culliney has joined the financial services group as a partner heading the group's professional liability practice. Culliney has 20 years' industry experience in professional liability broking.

Kevin Payne will be joining FirstCity as a partner in the financial services group, with principal responsibility for US D&O liability accounts.

Bill Taylor has rejoined the financial services group as a partner in the professional liability team where he has assumed account executive responsibility for certain of the firm's larger account relationships. Taylor has 26 years' experience in specialist insurance lines.

Philipp Kunath has joined the financial services group as an associate partner. Kunath began his insurance career with Marsh in 1998, as a graduate trainee, working on private equity M&A business.

Nick de Wiggondene is joining FirstCity as manager of the technical services department, responsible for leading the team providing its client documentation and accounting support functions. He has 20 years' relevant industry experience.

Insurer

Hiscox
Hiscox has appointed Ed Donnelly in the newly-created position of president of Hiscox US.

The company intends to open an office in Armonk, New York in early 2006 which Donnelly will head.

Donnelly was most recently with Professional Indemnity Agency (PIA) as senior vice president.

Nick Ward has been promoted to the newly-created position of global markets developments for Hiscox Syndicate 33, which will also be based in the US.

Arc
Arc has appointed Rebecca Conway as claims manager.

Conway has 15 years' experience of running insurance claims and general litigation. She was previously a legal adviser at Amicus Legal. A particular area of expertise is travel litigation claims.

She is a fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.

Loss adjuster

Davies Liability
Andrew Tyler has joined Davies Liability as branch manager of the company's new office in Bristol.

John Keogh has also been appointed by the Davies Group as a senior liability adjuster in the company's Southern Ireland liability office.

Previously with Marsh Ireland, Keogh has experience in liability adjusting and risk management.

Argent
David Clough has joined Argent as a senior adjuster at its Leicester office.

Clough was previously Nottingham liability branch manager at Crawford & Co.

MYI QuestGate
Philip Austin has been appointed as director of fine art at MYI QuestGates.

Austin, who will be based in London, has nearly 20 years' experience in the adjustment of fine art, jewellers' block and high net worth claims

Technology

SunGard
SunGard has appointed John Engelbrecht as sales director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Engelbrecht has held a number of senior sales management positions including IBM and SAP.

Five new partners and three assistants have recently joined Greenwoods Solicitors at its new office in Milton Keynes and in London. They are:

Partners: Richard Tovell and Deborah Chantler from DAC, specialising in health and safety work (based in London); Paul Davies from Beachcroft Wansboroughs, catastrophic injury ( Milton Keynes); Christine Winter from Badhams, motor and employers' liability (London); and Steven King from Vizards Wyeth, employers and public liability (London).

Senior solicitor: Geoff Owen from Silverbeck Rymer, specialising in catastrophic injury claims ( Milton Keynes).

Assistant solicitors: Simon Martin from Lamport Bassett (Milton Keynes); and James Wood from Thring Townsend, spinal injury cases (Milton Keynes).

Mondial
Mondial has appointed Nick Weston as a business development manager, supporting its corporate and travel division.

Weston joins from Accor Services where he was responsible for clients in the City as well as Lloyd's and Royal Mail.

Finsure
Finsure has confirmed the appointment of Trevor Brittain as managing director.

With over 13 years' experience in a wide range of senior managerial roles for the Churchill Group and NIG, Brittain's most recent position was as head of business development for NIG's personal lines national brokers. In his new role, he will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for Finsure.

Ted Langer
FirstCity has appointed Ted Langer to its expanding professional risks group.

Langer has 25 years' industry experience in professional indemnity insurance claims broking. He joins FirstCity from Aon where he has spent the past 10 years. In 2000 Langer became involved in the creation of a specialist claims handling business consisting of a team of about 30 solicitors, claims technicians and administration staff.

He said: "I am excited to join the highly respected professional risks team at FirstCity, which has a focused and dynamic future ahead of it."

FirstCity's professional risks leader, Neville Miles, said: "I am delighted that Ted has accepted our offer to join the expanding professional risks team at FirstCity."

Langer enjoys all sport, especially cricket and playing golf. He also loves travelling and is planning his next trip to South America.
