For the past ten years she has worked within commercial brokerages in Glasgow. Prior to this she worked for seven years in various commercial underwriting roles within Royal & SunAlliance.Company focusFinsure strengthens sales teamFinsure, the NIG backed commercial and personal premium finance provider, has expanded its sales team. Graham Tooke has been appointed assistant development manager at Finsure. Tooke has previously worker for AMP Pearl.Craig Howard has been appointed as sales executive for Northern England. He has a background in commercial insurance development and retail finance and has worked for Commercial Union.Alan Atkins has been appointed to the Finsure sales team as sales executive for the Midlands. Atkins previously worked at NIG in the credit and underwriting departments and as account executive for East Anglia and the Midlands.InsurerCongregational & General Martin Scott has been appointed as technical director of Congregational & General Insurance.Scott's career in insurance started in 1979 with the Prudential. He joined Congregational in 1993 as underwriting manager and has since held various senior management positions, including responsibility for product development and, more recently, technical responsibility for the company's underwriting and claims functions.LegalGates and PartnersSean Gates has launched Gates and Partners. The new law firm specialises in aerospace, commercial and private equity law.Together, Gates and his partners have expertise in aviation insurance and liability issues, disaster management and readiness and insurance coverage and policy issues.Previously senior partner at Beaumont and Son, Gates has acted for airlines and their insurers as lead counsel in respect of a number of aviation disasters. He co-ordinated the defence team for the airlines in the deep vein thrombosis litigation in the UK.Other partners at Gates and Partners include Dan Soffin and Adosh Chatrath, both former partners with Beaumont and Son.OtherThompson and BryanThompson and Bryan, the loss assessor, has announced the appointment of Derek Lamb to the board. One of the company's longest serving staff members, Lamb has 30 years' experience in handling commercial claims and is an active member on the council of the Birmingham Insurance Institute. Justin Osborne and Simon Jenkinson have been appointed associate directors in Thompson and Bryan's Birmingham and London offices respectively.Capita Insurance ServicesTony Boobier has joined Capita Insurance Services as head of building services. The newly-created role aims to develop an integrated building services operation within the claims management division, bringing together Capita's project management division, repair network and building supply chain. Boobier carried out a similar role at Royal & SunAlliance where he established R&SA Building Solutions. Jeremy Harris and Nick Dunn have been appointed to Capita's business development team to capitalise on new growth opportunities in areas such as claims, policy administration and professional services. Harris currently heads-up the personal insurance strategy team at AXA. Dunn is currently head of affinity business at UKI Partnerships, Direct Line Group's corporate partnership division.PlusOne ServicesJohn Simpson has been appointed sales and marketing manager of PlusOne Services, based in Southend.Simpson has 30 years' experience in the financial services sector, specialising in general insurance. Prior to joining PlusOne he was chief operating officer at Barclays Insurance Services, having previously been operations director of Woolwich Insurance Services. ABS Accident SolutionsAlan Hodgkinson has been appointed chief executive of ABS Accident Solutions. One of the original founders of ABS, he has since held a number of key positions within the business since leaving his own accident repair centre to join in 1996.Lisa Fantom has been promoted to the board of ABS in the dual role of director and company secretary. She joined ABS in October 2000 as company accountant, having previously worked for the company's auditors.Colin Thomson has also been promoted to the board of ABS as development director. He is a more recent addition to the team, joining in September 2002 from Mapfre Assistencia, where he was commercial manager responsible for the development of assistance and motor claims handling services in the UK. Thomson previously held senior management positions with Aon Motor Accident Management and AXA Assistance, and has been involved with ABS since 1997.
