St Paul International Insurance has appointed Alasdair MacKay as regional underwriter in Scotland. He will be based in Glasgow.
MacKay joins from Zurich and has also worked for Iron Trades.
Churchill Insurance
Rob Smart joins Churchill Insurance as technical claims manager.
He joins from the St Paul where he was deputy claims manager.
Chaucer
Chaucer Syndicates has appointed John Fowle as specialist lines underwriter. He will underwrite the specialist lines account on behalf of non-marine Syndicate 1096.
Fowle joins Chaucer from SVB Syndicates where he was responsible for the liability reinsurance unit.
Folgate Partnership
Folgate Partnership has announced the recruitment of Tim Craton, formerly a partner at Kent corporate law firm Brachers.
Folgate's growth has created a need for in-house professional legal support and Craton will be heavily involved in the acquisition programme, which is now in full swing.
Aon
Stuart Hutchings has been appointed as corporate business unit head for Aon's Bristol office.
He was previously business development manager at AIG Bristol for seven years and prior to that he was at Eagle Star.
Lincinsure
Lincinsure has appointed Joel Vincent as development manager. He will be responsible for generating new business opportunities in the Lincolnshire area.
Vincent previously worked for Lloyds TSB.
McParland Finn
McParland Finn has appointed Gary Housecroft as manager of its corporate and science & technology divisions.
He has had 20 years' experience in the industry, principally with Jardine Lloyd Thompson and its predecessor companies.
Ingham & Co
Ingham & Co has appointed Bob Hall as underwriting manager at its Wolverhampton office. He has been with Ingham & Co (Liabilities) for around 18 months, following a long career at Independent Insurance.
Premium First
Premium credit newcomer Premium First has expanded its sales team.
The company has appointed Adam Baker as its new southern business development executive and is looking to recruit further following six months of rapid growth in the personal lines marketplace.
Baker has a strong and successful history in the premium credit market, having worked previously for Independent Insurance and most recently Finsure.
Hextalls
City law practice Hextalls has appointed a new senior partner.
Following a period of ill health, John Bundy, senior partner of Hextalls, will step down from his position, having been senior partner for the past five years. He will remain with the Practice, advising the partnership in a part time capacity, to fulfil a strategic marketing role.
Paul Connolly, present head of Hextalls' UK liability department, has been elected by the partnership to the role of senior partner.
Plexus Online
Plexus Online has appointed Simon Stillwell as sales director.
He joined Micropal in March 1991 as a salesman. In October 1992 he was made sales manager for the UK.
In 1994 he was asked to join the board of Micropal limited as sales director and was responsible for developing global sales.
In 1996 Simon moved to the US to rebuild the sales team.
In November 1997 Micropal was sold to S&P and he stayed on for over four years holding various jobs, the last of which was head of global sales, account management and customer service, responsible for over $60m in revenues.
Capita Assistance
Capita Assistance has appointed three business relationship managers to its sales team.
Steve Dutton has 18 years' industry experience, having previously been director of sales at General Medicals Direct, and held roles at Zurich and Legal & General.
Jon Busby spent ten years with Northern Rock, becoming business development manager in 1995, and latterly led broker relations for Intelligent Finance in the London area.
Leon Chmiel joins from a new business role at Heath Lambert Group.
Huthwaite International
Huthwaite International has appointed Paul Segall as business development consultant.
He has worked with the company for 16 years as a client, first with Girobank and then with Flemings where he was sales director of its PremierBanking division.
