Cii
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has appointed Joe Martin to its team of customer relationship managers. He will look after organisations in London and the South East. He has most recently worked at Card protection Plan and Unum in marketing and sales development roles.

CII director general Dr Sandy Scott has been elected as the new chairman of the Institute for Global Insurance Education.

Sabre Insurance
Sabre has promoted Steve McDonald to the position of fraud co-ordinator.

He has been a senior member of the claims team since 1998

Talbot Underwriting
Stephen Lloyd has joined Talbot Underwriting's Syndicate 1183 as international facultative property underwriter. He has more than 24 years' experience; most of his career has been spent in the Lloyd's market and he is a former president of the Reinsurance Underwriting Group.

DAS Group
DAS Group announces that former managing director Tony Holdsworth retired from the Board as non executive director with effect from 31 March.

His place is taken by Patrick Veysey, previously assistant general manager finance, who is now appointed finance director.

BROKERS

Beckett Risk Management
Juliet Marke joins the Leicester office of insurance brokers, Beckett Risk Management to kick start the sales campaign.

She has more than ten years' insurance experience with major organisations.

Garratts Insurance Brokers
John Grindley joins North West based broker Garratts Insurance Brokers, operating from their Lancaster premises. He will be responsible for managing the sales and new business development side of the business.

Grindley joins from Charter Insurance Brokers where he spent the last ten years - nine of them as a partner in the business.

ACTUARY

Watson Wyatt
Watson Wyatt is to promote 24 European associates to partner on 1 May. The new partners are involved in a wide variety of financial and people management disciplines, including benefits consulting, investment consulting, insurance consulting and human capital consulting.

LEGAL

Barlow Lyde & Gilbert
Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has appointed four new partners; John Flaherty, Kathleen Ford, Rosemary Norton and Tim Strong. Flaherty joined BLG as a trainee in 1991 and qualified within the firm's shipping division in 1993. He specialises in dry shipping litigation and international trade and transport.

Ford was previously a partner in a US law firm and is both US and UK qualified. She has extensive experience with the London insurance and reinsurance markets.

Norton joined BLG in 1993, and specialises in commercial and IT law, with a particular focus on contracts in the consulting sector.

Strong has a wide range of commercial litigation experience and specialises in IT disputes, banking and project finance disputes and solicitors' liability work.

Davies Lavery
Davies Lavery, the insurance law firm, has recruited Denny Payton from the insurance practice of rival firm Eversheds. She joins the firm's Birmingham office as a partner.

She takes with her a caseload of some 700 ongoing actions for clients including Cornhill, NIG Skandia and Hertz Claims and Risk Management.

OTHER

Motor Investigation Agency
Roy Rodger has joined the Motor Investigation Agency (MIA) in Liverpool as technical consultant. He was with Royal & SunAlliance for more than 30 years and subsequently worked at the project office of the Motor Insurance Database. His role at the MIA will include claims work, policy indemnity issues and a continuation of his training and consultancy activities.

Contractsure
Contractsure, the specialist construction insurance subsidiary of the Henderson Insurance Group, announces four key appointments to the existing team.

Graham Parkinson joins as director and Pat Corrigan as an associate director. Diane Newbound and Louise Ham also join as broking technicians.

Healthsure
Healthsure has appointed Helen McNally as account development co-ordinator at its Manchester base.
