CNA Insurance
CNA has appointed Warren Jones to its financial lines team in London. He will specialise in underwriting professional indemnity (PI) business from CNA's box on the third gallery at Lloyd's. Jones was formerly a class underwriter for professional indemnity at Chartwell Syndicate 839. Prior to that he worked for J&H Marsh & McLennan as part of a team responsible for developing the PI account.

Affiliated FM
Commercial property insurer Affiliated FM has appointed Jeffrey Fields as director to oversee the recently announced expansion of its products and services in the UK. Previously, Fields was an underwriting manager for Affiliated FM Insurance Company based in the US.

Hiscox
Hiscox Birmingham has appointed two new underwriters. Ian Biggs and Sam Franks have been appointed following a successful first year in the city for Hiscox.

Biggs becomes a high net worth underwriter. He has 15 years' experience in the high net worth market and was formerly an underwriter for Oak Underwriting and a broker with Penrose Forbes.

Franks joins the Hiscox Birmingham team as development underwriter for the professional insurances account. He was an underwriter in the Hiscox retail professional indemnity team.

BROKERS

Miller Insurance Group
The Miller Insurance Group (Millers) has appointed Brian Horwell as a director in its professional risks unit and Martin Benatar as an associate director in its recently established risk consultancy arm, Dawson Risk Management Services. Additionally, John Eltham is promoted to business unit leader of Millers' special risks unit.

Horwell previously worked as casualty underwriter at Syndicate 839 DJ Marshall & Others. Formerly of Marsh BankRisk, Benatar has acted as a principal insurance adviser on a wide variety of structured finance deals worldwide.

John Eltham, a director of the group, is promoted to the role of business unit head for special risks. Having joined The Miller Insurance Group in 1988, John Eltham has more than 20 years' experience of the insurance industry.

Hill House Hammond
Hill House Hammond has appointed Alastair Denness as insurer relations manager in the commercial division. Previously, he was a trading team manager with Zurich and he has more than 15 years' experience in insurance. He is a vice president of the Insurance Institute of Bristol.

Regency Insurance Group
Nigel Fisher joins the Regency Insurance Group as sales director. He has more than ten years' experience in the industry and joins from Watford-based Arnold Fisher Insurance Services.

Smart & Cook
Smart & Cook has promoted Lorraine Phillips to group personal lines manager. She is one of Smart & Cook's longest serving employees, having joined them in 1979 when the headcount was nine.

REINSURERS

RJ Kiln
Stephen Mitchell joins as reinsurance manager. Previously, he was reinsurance programme manager at CGNU, before becoming reinsurance manager at Chartwell Managing Agency.

Glenn Winter becomes senior partner at Holmes Hardingham. He was among the firm's founding partners.

GastonWhybrew
Solicitors Richard Whybrew and Keith Gaston have set up their own Colchester-based property and subsidence law practice. Together, they have more than 20 years' experience in these fields acting mainly for insurance clients. They were both previously partners with Merricks.

Barlow Lyde & Gilbert
Michael Munro is joining the London office of Barlow Lyde & Gilbert as a partner in its leading reinsurance and international risk team.

He joins the firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and was also previously a partner at Clyde & Co.

Memery Crystal
Brian Moore joins Memery Crystal as a partner.

Moore, who specialises in insurance litigation and sports law, comes back into private practice after two years in the commercial world having been involved in recent projects with Sir Bob Geldof and Carphone Warehouse.

Camberford Law
Kelly Sinclair has rejoined Camberford Law as a sales executive in the direct marketing department.

She joined Camberford Law in 1997 as an office junior and then moved on to personal lines and commercial administration section. She left Camberford Law in March 2000 to join Hanover Park.

James Chapman
Manchester law firm James Chapman has appointed James Dadge to its personal injury department. He joins from Keoghs in Bolton.

Roger Brooks also joins from Keoghs to become a partner.

He will work in catastrophic claims.

Crutes
Marie Hart will embark on a three-year legal executive course with Crutes law firm. She is currently working in the specialist claims unit of the firm dealing with child abuse litigation. She has been with the firm for the past ten years working as a legal secretary.

Green Flag Group
Green Flag Group's client relationship manager Amanda Ree is gong to Australia to take part in a Rotary Club group study exchange programme.

Autoglass
Autoglass has appointed Bill Gordon as its fleet services team leader.

He joined Autoglass in 2001 as a sales administrator.

Before joining Autoglass, Bill took time out from his career in sales and customer service to join the Bangladesh Rural Improvement Foundation for seven months, where he supported the project manager and set up the charity's website.

Global Executives
Barry Waller, 48, joins the Global Executives as business development director. He joins from Robert Half International.

Xchanging
Peter George joins Xchanging as operations director, insurance services. Previously he was European managing director and senior vice president of international operations at Textron Fastening Systems. Before that he worked at Ford Motor Company for 19 years.

Ansa
Dave Holebrook joins the senior management team at Ansa. He has 20 years' experience in the industry.
