Rain did not dampen the spirits as more than 200 golfers took part in this year's Insurance Times Golf Day held at three picturesque courses in St Malo, France.

Great fun was had by all with the party starting on Wednesday night during a night-time crossing of the Channel on board a Brittany Ferry.

A drizzly Thursday morning helped clear a few hangovers as the golfers took to the three courses: Des Ormes, Le Tronchet, and Val Andre.

The weather proved little handicap for the competition winner, Steve Sheppard of loss adjusters Miller Pycraft.

He scored 40 points in the Stableford Competition, off handicap of five. Runner-up was Steve Coates of Independent Insurance.

After the match, everyone enjoyed a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau and a meal at the clubhouse before heading back to the boat for the return crossing and a gala presentation dinner.

Special thanks must go to Mark Dix who organised the event on behalf of Road Runner, and Independent Insurance which provided the balls.
